Starting with the London Hippodrome in Leicester Square.

Its an invigorating thing to set yourself such a challenge. And to work tirelessly towards refining and improving every aspect of your event and venue every time. Our last party was a wonderful night for all – and the next one is going to be even better always building in the next surprise, always looking for the way to improve it)

Finding ways to open the world of Modern Jive up to a wider and wider audience- seeking the ultimate, connected, fun, social night out.

Some years back, I stood at the back of a dance class with the teacher of the night, and she sighed as she sat on the stairs behind the curtain. It was out of the way - out of sight of the dancing customers. I asked what was up. Her answer floored me, completely.

"I hate dancing. I hate Teaching" she groaned in despair.

"I hate going out there and having to dance with everybody" with a weary look and slumped shoulders, sounding genuinely like it was the equivalent of going out to face a firing squad.

No wonder the customers keep fading away and not returing i thought...

And I was at odds with this for so many reasons. For me, the teaching and dancing with customers is about leaping headlong into the most joyful, complete and thrilling adventure in my life! What an honour to be able to stand and deliver high energy, fast paced classes - that people KEEP COMING BACK FOR MORE!

Its my idea of heaven, and I couldnt figure out why other teachers are not all so motivated.

But I know some things - I know that there is a switch in my head permanently set to "on" when it comes to helping people to find their feet and learn to dance - and I know this is one of the most important factors in teaching.

If you have been to a Jive nation class or party night, you will have an understanding of what we mean.

Teaching for Jive Nation isn't just a hobby, it is the singular purpose for our existence.

We don't teach Nightclub Jive for a living – its for life.

We are the first to acknowledge that there is more than a little bit of magic at work helping us to beat the drum (in a beautiful, danceable rhythm, naturally) as we send out the call for all to join us and learn how to dance.

Day after day, small miracles of wonderful fortune happen our way.. but we make sure we hustle while we wait!

Special thanks, of course, to all of you "miracles" who find Jive Nation, one way or another, and come along to join in the fun at class, or help us locate our next venue, or offer us a radio or tv slot - the energy we are receiving back from people is wonderful.

Jiveology - PART 8- Ideas Unlimited - on your own Grand Adventure!

Whats your own GRAND ADVENTURE? Or have you not bothered to find out yet?

Mine is simple - I'm going to teach the whole world to reconnect through dance.

Got an idea? We are all ears.

So far this year, we have had emails and calls from dozens of inspirational people suggesting things like:

Cruises,

holidays,

TV shows,

adventure camps,

mystery tours,

workshops,

specialist classes,

Jive Invasion,

new venue locations,

new moves,

internet and website ideas, the works.

We love it!. Keep the ideas and suggestions flowing in - and Jive Nation is game to try them out if you willing to help

So... how do you go about generating ideas? Well, lets start with some basics:

1. It helps if you really do have a Grand Adventure of your own... then unscrew your head, and empty it of all of your preconceptions. If you are someone that sees that the have reopened Wembley stadium, and your first thought is "You know.. if they ripped out the turf, that would make a decent sized dance floor!" then you are on the right track

2. Eliminate any emotional or mental pecking orders or barriers or shyness - you must STOP waiting to be asked, and start doing / trying / showing / telling

3. Start to REALLY look at the world around you and try to see marvellous ideas that other people have come up with - they are everywhere, in every industry, all around us

4. Start to think about things you would totally LOVE to see, or do, or be part of

5. Give yourself a headstart in the fresh ideas game, and choose a powerful, clear an compelling target (Remember: Mine is simple - I am going to teach the whole world how to reconnect through dance). Whats yours? When you look at the world through the lens of your own Grand Adventure like this, problems and obstacles tend to melt away and become tiny glitches

6. Then keep a note book always on hand, and free your mind.

No rules, no limits, no inhibitions, no beaureaucracy. Just imagination, instinct, persistence, dogged determination and guts.

Keep the ideas unlimited, and join us on the joyful journey as we reconnect the universe and teach the whole world how to dance.

Jiveology - PART 7- It Aint The Moves – It's the MOTION!

Nightclub Jive. Its Modern Jive, only smoother. In fabulous venues. With great tracks. And no bouncing. Ever.

So… take a deep breath… then breathe out slowly, and lets take it from the top:

Eliminate the giant loops and twirls of the arms.

Eliminate the over-rotations (ladies especially)

Eliminate the bounce

Guys, Lead firmly but gently.

Ladies, Relax, let him lead

Both: Pause More, Rush Less

Floorcraft – become VERY space conscious (but not self conscious) – take it easy, and be aware of other dancers around you

Check Dips, rather than full dips, are better in crowded rooms – use less space, safer

Think sexy, move sexy, dance sexy – make an effort please!

A beginner that dances ten moves smoothly looks better than a regular dancer that bounces through a hundred moves

Don't clutch, don't claw, no thumbs

Practice really HEARING the timing, and then practice hitting the breaks in the music

And no more bouncing. Ever. Its no longer acceptable practice, this is not 1982. Modern Jive is going mainstream international like a speeding bullet, and for heavens sake, lets make it look good! Take a look at the top rating TV shows, and you will notice that every dancer, regardless of the style, looks smooth. Not like they are practicing for their black belt in trampoline tricks.

Lets just quietly leave all that bouncing behind us, and never mention it again. If you come across any rogue MJ teachers that do bounce, please back away slowly, and alert the authorities. Don't attempt to confront them, as they may put you into a looping Arm Jive for eternity.

Jiveology - PART 6 - Its a Raw, Tribal Phenomenon.

Jive Nation people just love to dance.

And party. That's why we run our dance parties in Nightclubs.

But its not the kind of nightclub you may have seen elsewhere. We hate going to clubs full of fashionably dressed people all alone in dark corners.

Try chatting to a stranger in a place like that, and you are more than likely to get a cold stare – have you noticed how badly people interact in clubs these days? We reckon that is a dead end for socialising.

We believe in a more tribal kind of magic - inclusive, safe, where no one is left out. We arent afraid of saying hello. And we believe in pushing you past your boundaries and personal barriers or shyness.

So we invented the Jive Nation Superclub, where everyone is connected, dancing, chatting, and part of the fabulous, inclusive fun.

Wait til you see the London Hippodrome in full Nightclub Jive mode – hundreds of people dancing with one another (not solo) or chatting by the bars and lounges – come and be part of it, invite your friends and colleagues, introduce them to the new phenomenon of genuine modern Nightclub Jive.

Jive Nation teachers don't need to rest.

Ever.

So they don't.

Jive Nation teachers can keep it up all night long.

And so they do.

Your classes are clear, and your teachers stay out there with you all night long, til the very last song.

See if you can keep up.

So far no one has.

We have seen some valiant efforts, to be sure, but to date, no one has ever outlasted a Jive Nation teacher.

And yes, you can consider that a personal challenge.

Just dance.

Don't know many moves yet? Just dance. Don't know many people at your new venue? Just dance. Don't know those advanced and fabulous dancers you see - just ask them to dance. Don't know the new people at your venue? Just ask them to dance.

You have to go for it, its like hurdling a very particular obstacle that blocks the way to Jive Nirvana - its our natural shyness and our reluctance to introduce ourselves - it's a toughie, no arguments, and no one can push you beyond it except yourself...

However, on the other side of that obstacle lies Jive Heaven - the inclusive, connected, safe, fun and friendly community network of like minded people who have decided that its time to reconnect the whole world - and are doing something about it! No favourites. No pecking order. Just joyful, blissful dancing with great people celebrating a night out.

Jive Nation is an idea.

Its about being totally reconnected with the real world around you – out there, on the street, on the dance floor, and in the nightclubs. Socials, activities, dances, lunches, parties, dinners, movies, and the magical, natural, addictive ingredient that binds it all together is the dancing.

But more than that, Jive Nation is about gleefully pushing people further than they ever though they could go. No matter who you are. There is no special requirement to be fashionable or glam, we'd rather be surrounded by people with genuine staying power, who can keep up because they too see the magic in social, tribal, joyful activity.

CLEARER. FASTER. WILD, WILD FUN Jive Nation doesn't try to "dumb down" the dance moves for beginners or improvers. We give you more credit than that and know you want to be taught properly, right from the beginning..

..so we give it to you like it really is, out there on the dance floor, during real freestyle. Teaching you moves that will keep your partners happy, and coming back for more.

However, with great power comes great responsibility, and we recognise that this additional level of complexity means that Jive Nation teachers have to provide an unprecedented level of clarity and quality in the moves, the instruction, the routines, and the teaching. Thats why Jive Nation teachers NEVER leave the dance floor.

For you, its like stepping into the fast lane, and whilst we do guarantee to get you there faster, we also understand that it will be a wild ride for you. And we will be there right alongside you on the dance floor – no rest for the wicked!

Jiveology - Part 1. Nightclub Jive - Every Song - All Night Long.

Simon doesn't own a TV. He has never seen a single edition of The Apprentice, nor Big Brother. (Nor, for that matter, does Susie). Life is there for the living, and Jive Nation only exists to get you out there away from the small screen, and into the fast stream of real life, with real people.

There is no faster way to meet loads of wonderful REAL people than to get out there and start dancing. So what is the secret to really making it all work for you?
